Mark Kent Johnson, 82, of Haslet, Texas, passed away May 6 at home surrounded by his loving family and dogs. He was born March 2, 1943 in Chanute, Kansas, to Mark H. Johnson and Berniece (Bradford) Johnson. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Tara Lynn Johnson in 1977 and his parents.
He married Cynthia (Cindy) Hibbert, February 11, 1977, in Topeka, Kansas. They were married 48 years.
Most of his adult life, Mark worked construction beginning his career as a laborer with Martin K. Eby Construction out of Wichita, Kansas. He worked his way up over the years to superintendent, working for notable construction companies such as M.A. Mortenson, Cajun Industries, CanFer Utility Services, Red River Construction among others. He settled his family in Texas in 1985 while he continued to travel to multiple states, following where the work led him. Some of those being, Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Arizona, Idaho, Florida, Louisiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Virginia. He retired in 2016.
Mark took great pride working in his yard. He also loved woodworking, making writing pens and pocket knives as well as children's rocking chairs. He was a handy-man, fixing anything that might be broken.
He was a member of Saginaw United Methodist Church in Saginaw, Texas.
Mark is survived by his wife, Cindy, of the home, daughter, Brandi Boaz and husband Patrick of Decatur, son Jeffrey Johnson and wife Layken of Decatur, and two daughters from a previous marriage, Sonya Noland and Kimberly Wilson both of Chanute, Kansas as well as a sister, Dee Ann George and a brother Steven Johnson. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm, Friday, May 9, 2025, at Lucas Funeral Home, 1601 South Main St., Keller, Texas 76248. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller. A private burial with family will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery, in Decatur, Texas.
