Mark D. Hummert

August 21, 1959 — May 12, 2025

Mark Hummert entered into his heavenly home on May 12, 2025, at the age of 65 and on the sixth anniversary of the discovery of his Leukemia. Born on August 21, 1959, Mark was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, faithful brother, and steadfast servant of the Lord. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His love for the Lord Jesus grew as he aged, and his passion for reading and studying the Word of God intensified.

Mark was a man of deep conviction and enduring character, reliable in every sense of the word. To know him was to witness a life shaped by integrity, humility, and a steady devotion to the people he loved. Above all, Mark was wholly devoted to his beloved wife, Brenda Hummert. Their marriage of almost 47 years was a love rooted in faith, oneness, and lasting commitment. He stood faithfully by her side through every season, loving her and protecting her, always opening her car door. In his words of affirmation, his actions of treating her as his most precious gift, and quiet sacrifices, he showed Brenda—and all who knew them—what it meant to love as Christ loves the Church.

Together, they raised two sons, Jeremy Hummert and Robby Hummert, whom he cherished deeply. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Will, Brady, Nate, Callie, and Cash and found great joy in watching them grow. His love for his family was steady and strong, a constant source of comfort and strength. Mark also shared a love for his brothers, Mike, Steve, and Todd, as well as his beautiful daughters-in-law, Liz and Tamara.

A faithful member of Countryside Bible Church, Mark gave of himself generously, whether through quiet acts of service, prayerful encouragement, or simply being a steady presence in the lives of others. He lived out the Scriptures, not just in word but in deed. Through his suffering from Leukemia, the effects of all the drugs and chemo he endured took their toll upon his body and mind. His earthly journey has come to a close, and he is now at peace with his Lord, without any pain. Mark’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the example he set. His life was a testimony to God’s enduring faithfulness and the beauty of a heart wholly committed to the Lord and his family.

“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:21
