Burleson, TX

Marilyn Janice Husted, 83, passed away on October 10, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas. She was born on February 14, 1943, in Watsonville, California.

Raised in California, Marilyn carried with her a spirit of service and creativity throughout her life. She attended Pacific Union College and later served as a missionary in Hawaii, reflecting a lasting commitment to faith and to helping others. After following her husband through his military career, she eventually made her way to Burleson, Texas, where the family settled.

Once she had raised her four children, Marilyn returned to work and became an activity director at a nursing home. In that role, she served others with warmth and care while also sharing her creative gifts. She was known for expressing her artistic side through sewing, knitting, crocheting, and anything crafty or artistic, and these interests were a natural extension of the generous way she moved through life. Her faith also remained an important part of her life through Burleson Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Raithby R. Husted; her father and mother, Emmett and Mary Downing; and her sister, Carolyn Yeakle.

She is survived by her children, Carrol Morris (Mike), Ray Husted (Jennifer), Katherine Watt (Todd), and Karin Terry. She also leaves a loving legacy in her grandchildren: Tony Starkey (Amanda), Jacquelyn Starkey, Ellie Upchurch (Austin), Sonja Robertson (Dustin), Emily Watt (Christian), Mathew Husted, Christopher Husted, Daniel Terry, and Simon Watt. Her family circle was further blessed by her great-grandchildren, Lexi, Aidan, Killian, Amelia, Michael, and Astraea. Through each generation, Marilyn’s care, faith, and creativity will continue to be remembered with deep affection.

Marilyn will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother, a woman of faith, and someone who found meaningful ways to serve others. Those who would like to make a memorial in Marilyn’s name may do so to The Burleson Adventist School.
