Gayle Wood

Marigayle “Gayle” Wardlow Wood beloved mother, mimi, great-mimi, sister, aunt, cousin and friend passed away quietly surrounded by her loved ones on March 18, 2026.

She was born in San Antonio, TX, to Mont and Mary Lou Wardlow.

Gayle graduated from Haltom High School in 1963. She attended the former East Texas State College in Commerce, TX and was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. Her career was spent in the hospitality industry, the majority as a Catering Director for multiple hotels, retiring from Hilton Hotels.

She cherished spending time with family, playing games and visiting especially over family dinners. She loved snuggling with her cat Sugar, grand dogs and grand cats. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grand children who brought her endless pride and happiness. She enjoyed shopping, gardening, cooking and making memories with loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mont and Mary Lou Wardlow; husband Charles John Wood; grandson Hudson Haas; brothers Monte Wardlow and Robert Bane.

She is survived by her daughter Ashley Haas and husband Doug; grandson Haydon Haas, grandson Hunter Haas and wife Jennifer; great granddaughter Hallie Mae Haas; brothers William N. Wardlow, James C. Wardlow and wife Dee; nieces Jacque Wardlow, Sarah Wardlow and Katie Wardlow; great nephew Jase Wardlow Gomez.

Gayle’s life was filled with unwavering love for her family and friends. She embodied strength and grace in everything she did. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing her.
