Maria Angela Caton Azcutia, age 90, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026 in Keller, Texas. She was born on July 6, 1935, in Madrid, Spain, to Angel and Maria Azcutia
She overcame many challenges to move to the United States from her home country of Spain with limited English and no close family support. She accomplished becoming a citizen of the United States for which we are very proud of her for doing. She was a wonderful mother with a very protective nature. Maria enjoyed the simple comforts of home. She loved her family, her close friends and neighbors, playing cards, shopping and going out to eat. In her younger years, she enjoyed sewing, her home and reading books. Her later years, she enjoyed going out to eat with her family, her grandkids, watching classic movies and game shows. Those who met her found her cute and spunky. Given her homebody nature, she had an unusual request for her 90th birthday and that was to see Alaska and the “big trees in California”. She got to do just that and she enjoyed it immensely.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Angela Goonan; her son, Richard Caton and his wife, Lyn; her sister, Gloria Ramos; her grandchildren, Cristina and Travis Goonan, Masyn Ferrell, and Nicholas and Alexander Caton; her nieces and nephews in Spain, as well as her aunt-in-law, Phyllis Williams.
Maria was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Richard Caton.
She is deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
