Grapevine

Maelyn Latham Hinton of Grapevine, TX passed away on August 5, 2024, in Grapevine, TX. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to all that knew and loved her.

She was born on March 7, 1946, in Amarillo, TX to Jo & Bill Latham.

Maelyn attended West Texas State University, Amarillo Community College and Trinity University where she obtained her Advanced Training Certificate in speech and hearing impaired. She returned to Amarillo and worked at the Amarillo Speech and Hearing Center.

In June 1973, she married Boyd Hinton and moved her family to Lake Tanglewood where they spent many days on the lake fishing and enjoying lake life. Paradise for the three young kids who enjoyed exploring, camping, swimming, fishing, skiing and all the fun lake life brings. Maelyn and Boyd later enjoyed traveling, golfing, and spending time with their grandkids and many friends.

Maelyn was the President of the Corpus Christi Woman’s Golf Association at the Corpus Christi Country Club in 2003.

After moving to Grapevine to be closer to her younger grandkids, she quickly was surrounded by the support and friendship of her many neighbors and church members. They continually watched over, encouraged, entertained and helped her in so many ways. She also greatly enjoyed and looked forward to the stimulating, entertaining fellowship of the monthly book club. Maelyn knew no strangers and always welcomed new friends.

Maelyn is survived by her children Mills Roberts of Southlake, TX, Jim (Maxine) Roberts of Amarillo, TX and Eve (Chris) Roberts Gremillion of Sugar Land, TX. Her grandchildren Lauren Elliott, Ali Roberts, Blake Elliott, Coulter Roberts, Peyton Roberts, Teagan Roberts and Cooper Roberts.
