Madeline Kay Jester May 10, 1940 — March 30, 2026
Madeline Kay Jester, lovingly known as “Kay,” passed away peacefully at the age of 85 on March 30, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on May 10, 1940, in Fort Worth, Texas to Marion Johnson and Elbert Adams. She later gained a loving stepmother, Viola Adams, when her father remarried during her teenage years and shared a close bond with her brother, Larry Adams.
Kay graduated from R. L. Paschal High School in 1957 and went on to attend secretarial school. In 1960, she met the love of her life, Elbert “Jes” Jester, upon his return from military service. After a brief three-month courtship, they married in November of that same year, beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in love and faith.
Kay and Jes made their home in Euless, Texas, where they raised their two daughters, Laura and Melinda. They were early members of First Baptist Church Euless when it was located on Main Street and remained deeply involved in the life of the church for many years, serving in youth ministry and various other areas. Kay later continued her service at Church at the Cross in Grapevine, where she cared for children in the Mother’s Day Out program.
Throughout her life, Kay held a variety of jobs, but her greatest joy was caring for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose life was marked by service, kindness, and unwavering faith. She had a rare gift for making others feel seen, welcomed, and loved whether family, friends, or strangers. Her kindness and humor always left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Kay loved music, especially country and gospel, family vacations, cooking, and hosting gatherings and holidays. She shared a Christ-centered marriage with Jes and created a home that was a place of safety, stability, and abundant joy. She loved others with a purity and grace that mirrored her Savior’s.
Even in the later stages of Alzheimer’s, Kay’s character remained evident. Caregivers and those around her often remarked on her sweet nature. Though many words faded, she could still recall every lyric to the hymns she loved. She consistently trusted in God, saw His hand in all things, and reflected His love in the way she lived.
We are profoundly grateful for the impact she had on her family and countless others throughout her life.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert “Jes” Jester, and her parents.
She is survived by her brother, Larry Adams and family; her daughters, Laura Brannan and husband Rick, and Melinda DuBois and husband Parry; her grandchildren, Tricia Garcia and husband Michael, Jennifer Huff and husband Sam, Eric Greuner and wife Kasey, and Julie Eyster and husband A.J.; and her great-grandchildren, Colt and Aurora Eyster, and Ada and Isabel Greuner, along with many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
