Lynn Edgington, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 21, 2026. He was born on April 10, 1941, in Liberty Center, Iowa, to Chester and Florence Edgington, the third of four sons raised on the family farm in Warren County, Iowa, alongside his brothers Gene, Vernon, and Bruce.
From an early age, Lynn developed the strong work ethic, resilience, and ingenuity that would become hallmarks of his life. During his school years, he enjoyed playing basketball, showed early leadership as class vice president of Liberty Center High School, and worked a variety of local jobs. After completing a business certification and executive education at the American Institute of Business in Des Moines, Lynn began a successful career in accounting and finance with Bruce Motor Freight and later SMB Stage Lines, where he formed many lifelong friendships.
Lynn later moved with his family to Texas, where he continued his career at SMB as an accountant and office manager, and later with International Turbine Service as Vice President and CFO, before finishing his career at TK Aviation.
Lynn and Bette were married for 54 years, and together they built a life centered around family, fellowship, and community. Lovingly known as “Pops,” Lynn was deeply cherished by his seven children, eighteen grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him tremendous pride and joy.
Lynn was an active member of White’s Chapel Methodist Church since 1988, faithfully serving for many years as treasurer. He loved reading, watching old westerns, and you could always expect to find him supporting his family’s sporting events, music performances, and school activities.
Lynn could fix nearly anything, never hesitating to tackle even the most ambitious home improvement projects (if you want to know how to relocate a 2-car garage on skids, just ask). He loved telling stories and could deliver a perfectly timed one-liner with the dry and insightful sense of humor that those closest to him knew and loved.
More than anything, Lynn will be remembered for his generosity, wisdom, dependability, and the deep love he had for his family and friends. His steady presence, guidance, humor, and quiet strength will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
