Lottie Jean Carryer, formerly Sullivan

November 24, 1930 - October 18, 2025

On October 18, 2025, Lottie Jean Carryer, 94, left us peacefully at home to join her husband John Eugene Carryer. She was interred on their anniversary 5 March 2026 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.

She was born Lottie Jean Sullivan in Memphis, Tennessee, and shared fond memories of sewing with her mother, and her family cows.

She and John were married in 1948. John was a career Air Force officer, so time was spent on various military bases and included raising children and managing a household during his deployments to Korea and Vietnam. After his retirement from the Air Force, they settled in Schaumburg, IL. With their four children well established in school, she worked in early computing, back in the days of using punch cards to run programs.

She was a life-long maker—baking, sewing, cooking, crocheting, gardening. She played music and enjoyed dancing. After John retired from his second career at American Airlines, they traveled extensively in their recreational vehicle, always in the company of their four-legged fur babies. Her faith in God was steadfast.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, John E. Carryer, her youngest daughter, Patricia A. Sullivan (née Carryer), and her grandson Kristoffer A. Carryer.

Surviving are her children, John “Edward” Carryer, Elizabeth M. Carryer, and David L. Carryer; grandchildren Portia E. S. Carryer, Susan E. Parker (née Sullivan), Michael B. Sullivan and Drew M. Carryer; and great-grandson Derek A. Carryer.

Lottie Jean Carryer was a loved wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She will be remembered and missed every day.
