Losa Latu ‘Asaeli, 76, a beloved sister, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Losa, born on February 25, 1949 to Latu Ta’ufo’ou of ‘Utui, Vava’u, Tonga and Anamanu Moala Ta'ufo'ou of Tefisi and Taoa, Vava'u, was a pillar of strength and wisdom to all who knew her. She enriched the lives of those around her through her unwavering faith in God and compassionate love for her family. Her legacy will forever be etched in our hearts.

Throughout her life, Losa had God and family at the forefront of her mind. With her contagious smile, she was notorious for her declarations of “Amen” and her powerful alto voice that could be heard throughout church services and family gatherings. Furthermore, she excelled as a teacher at Siu'ilikutapu Mailefihi College, Pangai Hihifo Primary School and later Lavengamalie College. She served as a virtuous role model for her students and prioritized their future.

Losa immigrated to the United States with her husband and 2 young children in October, 1981.  They briefly lived in Riverside and San Mateo, California, before making Euless, Texas, their home in June, 1984. Losa retired from Marconi Communications after 17 years of employment and helped in watching her grandchildren who she cherished unconditionally.

Losa is survived by her spouse of 50 years Viliami Penilotu ‘Asaeli, her siblings Anamanu Takau and Toa Tangataevaha, her children Viliami Saufo’i ‘Asaeli and his wife Elisapeti, Mele Rivera and her husband Jerry, Mele Na’ati Uluakiola and her husband Mofuike, her 18 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her legacy will live on through memories shared, the values she instilled, and the love she gave. Now resting with the Lord, we find peace in knowing that she is now in paradise, leaping in joy with her daughter Lavinia ‘Asaeli, her parents and siblings Lavinia Vaipulu, Fua Pongipongi Ta’ufo’ou, and Lisitoa Ta’ufo’ou.
