Loretta Marie Eskridge, 76, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, bonus great grandmother and friends to all she met passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025, leaving a void her family can never fill.
Born on January 25, 1949, in San Diego, California, Loretta was raised in Houston, Texas, by her loving parents, Mary Johanna Cavanaugh Verret and Alvin Patrick Verret. Her parents named her after the movie star, Loretta Young.
Loretta attended Catholic schools from grade school to high school. High school she excelled as a spirited cheerleader whose energy and smile lit up every room. Loretta went on to Catholic college where she started her degree in child psychology. Then while in college she began her career as an executive secretary at a Bank in Houston, where she met the love of her life, John Ira Eskridge, Sr. They shared 55 years of marriage marked by deep devotion, unwavering partnership, unconditional love and respect.
A dedicated mother to Laurie Ann O'Dell and John Ira Eskridge, Jr., Loretta poured her heart into her family. She cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and bonus great grandchildren always bringing laughter, encouragement, and boundless love. She had a contagious joy that made everyone around her feel welcome. Whether enjoying game nights with her Keno group of friends, attending church, mother/daughter cruises, working at Drees Custom Homes, Loretta embodied grace, kindness, and faith.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, John Ira Eskridge, Sr.; her children, Laurie Ann O'Dell (husband David M. O'Dell) and John Ira Eskridge, Jr. (spouse Kristina Marvin); and stepson John William "Billy" Martin. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Johnny "Conner" Reynolds, Laurel Marie Reynolds, Rylee Blake Dockins (husband Rylee Masyn Dockins and their son Lincoln), Hayden Glynn Iker (and her children Heidi and Dawson), and Sarah Cecilia Martin, daughter of Billy Martin.
Loretta's constant love and support will be forever missed and remembered by all who knew her.
Loretta lived her life in Color. Her favorite color was Purple. Wear your favorite color or Hers!
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Milestone Church, Keller Campus, 201 Mount Gilead Road, Keller, TX 76248. Please enter through Milestone Kids West Entrance. Flowers in honor of Loretta Eskridge may be sent directly to Milestone Church.
