Linda K. Miller

July 2, 1955 — April 19, 2026

Linda Kowierschke Miller was called to Heaven on April 19, 2026. She was born on July 2, 1955, in Dallas to Sidney Kowierschke, MD, and Katye Harper Kowierschke, and was the eldest of four daughters.

Linda grew up in Bryan and El Paso, graduating from Burgess High School in 1973. She went on to earn a degree in music education from West Texas State University (now West Texas A&M University). Gifted with a beautiful, classically trained voice, she performed in the Texas musical in Palo Duro Canyon during her college years.

A devoted mother to her two children, Matthew and Lindsay, Linda began her teaching career in El Paso and Conroe. She later earned a Master’s degree in Reading Education from Sam Houston State University and went on to teach in higher education in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, and most recently at Texas Woman’s University.

Linda spent much of her career in the Grapevine-Colleyville and Northwest Independent School Districts, where she taught reading education and helped develop elementary curriculum. She cherished her students and colleagues and formed many lifelong friendships. She also served as Assistant Principal of Seven Hills Elementary School. After retiring from administration in Northwest ISD, she continued her passion for teaching as an adjunct professor at Texas Woman’s University, where she remained active until her passing.

Linda was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She touched countless lives with her kindness, warmth, humor, and strength. Her laughter, compassion, and ability to make everyone feel welcome will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Her family and friends are grateful for the love, support, and memories shared, and will carry her legacy in their hearts always.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Katye Kowierschke; her grandparents, Martin and Eoline Kowierschke and Milam “Red” and Genoa Harper; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She is survived by her son, Matthew Hooper; her daughter, Lindsay Shoush; and her beloved grandchildren, Vivian and Bennett Hooper and Elliott and Hannah Shoush. She is also survived by her sisters Elaine Echols and husband Jim of Stuarts Draft, Virginia; Sandra Kowierschke of Fort Worth; and Karen Mitchell and husband Greg of Castell. Additional survivors include her aunts Peggy Chambers of Norman, Oklahoma, and Iva Galindo of San Antonio, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church, 7620 Baker Boulevard, Richland Hills, at 10:00 a.m. on May 9, 2026.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
