Linda Diane Logan (née Karl) passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026 at the age of 82. The oldest of five children, Linda was born on October 1, 1943 to Charles and Mary Karl in Dallas, Texas. As a girl, Linda attended Our Lady of Good Counsel Academy in the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas where she was involved in the Arena Players theatre program and was a straight-A student. After graduating in 1962, she remained involved in theatre (appearing in shows with Community Theaters of Greater Dallas, Theatre Oak Cliff, and Theatre 34), attended college classes while raising her family, provided bookkeeping services for several Dallas businesses, and stayed a lifelong dedicated Catholic.
Linda met her future husband, Jack Arnold Logan, in January of 1961 when one of her friends decided to set them up on a blind date. At the time, Linda was 17 years old and a junior in high school; Jack was almost five years older. Understandably a little wary of the older man who came to pick her up, she answered the door with her baby cousin in her arms and a story to scare him away. She told Jack that her late husband, a Navy man, had died aboard his ship with scorched lungs. Jack left the encounter completely smitten. If you’d asked Linda, she would tell you that Jack knew that first day he would marry her. He spent the next few weeks calling her for a date. Each time he called, Linda’s mother would answer and tell him Linda was not available. Eventually, it clicked for Jack that Linda’s life as a young widow was completely fabricated, but soon Linda finally answered his calls and the rest, as they say, is history.
Jack and Linda married on December 29th, 1962, seven months after she graduated high school. Jack and Linda raised four beautiful children together and celebrated 55 years of marriage just before his passing in February of 2018. Linda missed Jack terribly in the years following his departure, and their family finds comfort knowing they are reunited once again in God’s loving presence. ‘Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.’
In life, Linda had a keen eye for design which she employed in her personal business endeavors and hobbies. Through Heart to Heart of Texas, she meticulously hand-made hair bows and fashion accessories for young girls and women for two decades. Her hobbies included scrapbooking, thrifting, decorating, traveling to historic places with personal significance, and hosting her family for holidays. She treasured her role as a grandmother and adored her grandchildren. Linda’s legacy will be forever captured in her 30+ years of genealogical research, where she tirelessly cataloged her family history and helped others in pursuit of their own stories. She was known by those who loved her to be a very detail-oriented, exacting, and feisty woman who challenged those around her to be their best.
Linda was a cherished wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by three siblings, Charles Jr., who was a devoted brother until the end, Chris, and Susan; her children, Lisa (Joe) Logan Walker, John Logan, Scott (Heather) Logan and Matt (Simonetta) Logan; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Karl; her brother, Michael Karl; and her beloved husband, Jack Logan. A visitation will be held on Monday, April 27th at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst, Texas before Linda takes her final resting place with her husband at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the staff at North Park Health and Rehabilitation Center in McKinney, Texas for their attentive care and compassion toward Linda in her final years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Charities Dallas http://www.ccdallas.org/donate/or Dementia Society of America in Linda’s honor.
