Liberty Cardoza

January 28, 1967 — April 27, 2025

Liberty Cardoza finished the race on April 27, 2025, in Trophy Club, TX, and is now celebrating in Heaven. She was born in the Philippines on January 28, 1967. Her father, Mons. Celebrado Cardoza, was a big fan of General Douglas MacArthur, who was an American general who served as a top commander during World War II and the Korean War. He named his youngest child "Liberty" to honor General Douglas MacArthur, who liberated the Philippines first from Spanish colonization and he later returned to liberate Philippines from the Japanese occupation.

A tenacious graduate of St. Joseph’s High School, Liberty was known for her kindness and resilience. She went on to earn her B.A. in Education at Immaculate Conception College in Ozamiz City. She dedicated most of her adult life to teaching in both private and public schools. While teaching, she continued her own education and completed her M.S. in Journalism in Manila. She later became a Master Teacher at Marikina Elementary School.

Liberty retired from teaching for almost three decades. She immigrated to the USA to join her family in 2016 and became a naturalized US citizen in 2024. She worked at Walmart and enjoyed working with her nice and dedicated co-workers. She appreciated the help and benefits from Walmart.

Liberty's world was rocked by a stage 4 cancer diagnosis in 2023. She fought her cancer valiantly including a painful hepatectomy, 11 ERCPs, cocktails of immunotherapy and chemo treatments, 2 Radio Frequency Ablations, daily photon-based radiations for 8 weeks with chemo, more cocktails of chemo therapies, etc. She appreciated all her oncologists, surgeons, nurses, and staff from Baylor Hospital in Dallas and MD Anderson in Houston for their care and dedication.

A devoted member of The Lord's Vineyard Covenant Community, Liberty, in some years past, led the Praise & Worship Dance Ministry and Sunday School Children Ministry—a reflection of her deep and growing desire to serve and share God's love with others. Her passions shone brightly, whether dancing in celebration of her faith, nurturing her students, or staying closely connected with her many dear friends and family.

She is survived by her sisters, Merlina Tampipi, Azucena Bulado, Lucila Pedroso, and Celiza DeCarvalho; her brothers, Antonio Cardoza and Abraham Cardoza; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Liberty was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Sarah Englis; her father, Mons. Celebrado Cardoza; and her brothers, Felipe Cardoza and Carmelo Cardoza.

More than just a teacher, Liberty was a mentor, guiding her students with patience, wisdom, and a deep love for learning. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched. She gave more than lessons; she gave pieces of her heart. Her teachings extended far beyond the classroom, shaping character, nurturing courage, and inspiring growth. A beacon of knowledge and kindness, she showed the transformative power of education and empathy. Her spirit continues to inspire everyone who knew her. She taught others to find beauty in learning and to meet challenges with strength and hope. Her influence remains a guiding light, and she will be profoundly missed.
