Larry Glenn Ward

Larry Glenn Ward, 83, of Denton, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026. He was born on July 25, 1942, in Wichita Falls, Texas, the oldest child of Virginia (Singleton) and E.J. Ward. He graduated from Midwestern State University and Frostburg State University.

Larry is survived by his wife, Ruthanna; his sons, Eric John (Sandy) and Cory Austin (Sarah); and his four grandchildren, who lovingly knew him as "PaPa": Capt. Megan Elizabeth (Capt. Trevor) Frost, Ethan Joshua (Alexia) Ward, Zachary Tyler Ward, and Kubrick Austin Ward. He is also survived by his brother, Rick (Linda Nell) Ward; his sister, Linda Jean (Arlie) Stogner; and many nieces and nephews.

Larry served 20 years in the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps, with tours at the 42nd Field Hospital supporting the 82nd Airborne Division in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where he met his wife, Ruthanna, who was serving in the Army Nurse Corps. His service also included various other tours including Vietnam and the U.S. Army Hospital in Nuremberg, Germany. Following his military career, Larry worked for 20 years at Bayshore Medical Center in Pasadena, Texas as a Medical Materials System Manager.

Outside of work, Larry loved trips to Colorado and the mountains, and took great joy in watching his sons and grandchildren play soccer. He treasured time spent with his family and held fond memories of gatherings with the "Wednesday Night Supper Club."

A longtime Rotarian, Larry recently celebrated 10 years as a charter member of Champions Rotary in Justin, Texas. He was a member of The Grove Church in Argyle, Texas, and the family extends special thanks to Pastor Ben Scheck.

The family would like to express special appreciation to Urologist Scott J. Hassell, M.D., for his many years of attentive care during Larry's battle with prostate cancer and its complications.

A memorial service to celebrate Larry's life will be held Sunday, August 2, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at The Grove Church in Argyle, Texas, with military honors rendered in recognition of his 20 years of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Champions Rotary of Justin, Texas or The Grove Church. Arrangements were entrusted to Lucas Funeral Home in Grapevine, Texas.
