Lanis Louise Latta Pittard

Lanis Louise Latta Pittard, 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 23, 2026, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on April 10, 1948, in Shenandoah, Iowa, Lanis moved to Grapevine, Texas, in 1972. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas, and began her career as a labor and delivery nurse at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. After marrying Dr. Carlton Pittard in 1975, she worked along side him in his private medical practice in Grapevine for more than 30 years.

Lanis and Carlton were devoted members of First Baptist Church in Euless, Texas, for many years, where they faithfully served and participated in numerous medical mission trips to India, Africa, and Russia. Lanis had a lifelong love of music and began playing the piano at an early age. She and Carlton also enjoyed snow skiing and scuba diving. She will be remembered for her quick wit, warm heart, and the compassion she showed everyone she met. Caring for others was both her profession and her calling.

Lanis was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Dr. Carlton Pittard, who passed away in May 2026; her mother, Lila Latta; and her father, Lloyd Latta.

She is lovingly remembered by her brother, Bart (Brenda) Latta of Desert Hot Springs, California; her children Grant (Jill) Pittard of Grapevine, Texas; Jan Pittard (Mike Kozacek) of Grapevine, Texas; Amy Loevy of Livermore, California; John Pittard of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Andrew (Lindsay) Pittard of Hurst, Texas. She also leaves behind fifteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, all of whom brought her immeasurable joy.

A private memorial service was held at the Evergreen Funeral Home in Colorado Springs. Lanis was laid to rest beside her husband in Grapevine, Texas, on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.

Lanis’ legacy of faith, kindness, humor and service will continue to live on through all who knew and loved her.
