Lamar Godbolt Jr was born on August 24, 1953, in Victoria, Texas to the parents of Lamar Sr. and Lucille Godbolt. He worked for many years for the City of Amarillo before moving to the dfw area where he and his wife Debbie enjoyed working together until he was no longer able due to health issues. Lamar and Debbie married in November 2007, and they spent 18 years together with the baby (dog named Star).
He was a devoted father of 3, where he guided them with love, wisdom, and support through every stage of their lives. He was a great friend who gave sound advice; he was a diligent worker enjoying collaborating with his wife. He was the type of man that would be there for not only his friends, but he would help you if you were in need. He gave his life to Christ and began attending church with his lovely wife Debbie in Amarillo. They were members of Greenville Church of Christ until they moved to Hurst and their pastor recommended Airport Freeway where he used his gift of hospitality and saw a need for an usher's ministry where he served until he became ill. Lamar was a family man and before moving from Amarillo to dfw he was known for his bbq skills. Anytime there was a family gathering, he would show off his skills by lighting up the grill. On September 30, 2026, Lamar was going about his daily routine of spending time with God praying while his wife fixed breakfast, when he heard the voice of God saying, “Well Done”. Lamar will truly be missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, nephew, niece, friends, and his church family on the usher board.
