Ken was a devoted family man who loved family gatherings and treasured the time spent with those closest to him.
Kenneth “Ken” Engberg, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on October 14, 2026, at the age of 62. Born in Glenview, Illinois, on April 11, 1964, Ken will be remembered as a warm and welcoming man whose generous spirit, adventurous heart, and deep devotion to family influenced and shaped the lives of those around him.
Ken built a long and distinguished career with Allstate Insurance Company, serving as an Information Technology Senior Manager for 39 years. He also earned his Masters of Business Administration degree, an accomplishment that reflected his steady commitment to growth, discipline, and excellence.
Life with Ken was marked by enthusiasm, curiosity, optimism, and joy. He loved adventure and travel and found happiness in the open road on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He loved the great outdoors, hiking, skiing and playing golf. He also had a deep appreciation for music and enjoyed attending live shows. He delighted in trying new restaurants and was a true foodie, always eager to share his knowledge and love of food with others. Ken was known as the family grill master. He appreciated a variety of beer and whisky, bringing that same sense of discovery and pleasure to the table at family gatherings. Even in ill health, that enjoyment remained part of who he was, and those who gathered with him will remember the pleasure he took in good food, good company, and shared moments.
Ken was a devoted family man who loved family gatherings and treasured the time spent with those closest to him. He loved meeting new people, was always willing to help others, and enjoyed taking on any type of project. When he and Lucy first moved to Texas, they learned to two-step as soon as they arrived, a memory that captures both their shared spirit and Ken’s readiness to embrace life fully.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Luz “Lucy” Engberg; his son, Kenny Engberg; and his daughter, Michelle Engberg. He also leaves behind Milo, his cherished fur baby, as well as Ami and Logan, his grand-fur babies, who were part of the circle of affection that meant so much to him. Ken is also survived by his sister, Linda Funk and her husband Randy Funk, by his brothers, Tom Engberg and Jim Engberg and his wife Norma, and by his nieces and nephews who he loved very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arlene Doris Engberg and Herbert Rudolph Engberg, Jr.
Ken’s life was one of warmth, welcome, and wholehearted living. He leaves behind memories of laughter, hospitality, adventure, and love—memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
