Kathryn Ilene Farrell

August 20, 1956 — December 19, 2025

Haltom City, Texas

Kathryn Ilene (Jones) Farrell, lovingly known as Kathie, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, at the age of 69 surrounded by her family. Born on August 20, 1956, Kathie lived a life defined by kindness, dedication, and a deep devotion to family and service.

Kathie was a woman whose presence brought comfort and laughter wherever she went. She maintained an active social life and was blessed with many close friendships that she deeply cherished. Known for her bright smile, sincere compassion, and generous spirit, she had an extraordinary ability to make others, especially children, feel safe, seen, and loved. This gift was evident in the way she loved and cared for her own family, and through her many years of volunteer service at Cook Children’s Medical Center, where she became a beloved presence. Staff and fellow volunteers said she was the “baby whisperer,” able to soothe and calm even the most unsettled infants with patience and tenderness. Her time there was a reflection of who she was at her core; selfless, nurturing, and quietly impactful.

Kathie was also accomplished professionally. She earned her Master of Business Administration from Washburn University and went on to build a distinguished 32-year career with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. Her work was marked by dedication, integrity, and a strong work ethic, qualities she carried into every area of her life.

Above all else, Kathie treasured her family. She found special joy in her newest grandson, Dylan, Kristy’s son, delighting in the time she spent watching him grow and loving on him. She spoke often and proudly of her daughters, stepchildren, and grandchildren, finding her greatest joy in time spent with them. She was known for her genuine, enveloping hugs and her ability to make people feel welcome and at home. Her love was steady, unconditional, and deeply felt.

Kathie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Farrell.

She is survived by her daughters, Kristy Farrell and Erica Reynoso, her stepchildren, Heidi Domer and Michael Farrell, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by her mother, Ilene Jones, and her brothers, Michael “Mike” Jones and Robert “Bobby” Jones.

Kathie’s legacy lives on in every child she comforted, every person she welcomed with open arms, and every life made brighter by her kindness.

A celebration of Kathie’s life will be held on Saturday, 12/27/2025, at Lucas Funeral Home, 700 W. Wall St., Grapevine, TX 76051. A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 pm and funeral services will begin at 3:00.

Memorial donations may be made in Kathie’s name to Cook Children’s Health Foundation, in honor of her many years of loving volunteer service caring for and comforting babies.

Kathie’s life was a testament to quiet strength, unconditional love and joyous laughter. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
