Karl Mitchell Killgore, of Hurst, Texas, a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, passed away on March 12, 2026, after a 10 year battle with cancer, in Ft Worth, Texas. Karl will always be remembered as a loving husband, son, brother and uncle, friend and neighbor, to all that knew and loved him.
He was born September 2, 1949 in Ft Worth, Texas to Charles L. and Mabel Killgore. Karl married the love of his life, Cheryl (Sherry) on March 18, 1998. He was a steel fabricator, shop manager at Ft Worth Tower Co. until his retirement. Only to return to work for Falcon Steel America in Haltom City.
A Vietnam Veteran, from August 1969 until April 1971, he served proudly with The 25th Infantry Division, "Tropic Lightning," earning several commendations and metals, rising to the Rank of Spc. 5, until he was Honorably Discharged from U.S. Army in August 1975.
Karl enjoyed time hunting with his brothers, gardening with his wife Sherry, wood working. Karl and Sherry had a farm in Kennedale, TX where they grew hay for their animals. He loved animals, and a few favorites, Virgil and Wendy the cats, Jack, “B” and Suki the dogs, along hungry strays that would wander onto the property.
Karl is survived by his Wife, Cheryl Killgore, Sister, Laverne Heath (Ed) of Fountain, NC, Brother Howard Killgore (Linda), of Alvarado, Tx., 10 nieces and nephews, 19 Grt Nieces and Nephews, and 6 Grt Great Nieces and Nephews,
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Charles and Mabel Killgore of Kennedale, Tx. Brothers, Edgar L. Killgore (Mary Lou) Lewisburg, TN, Clyde N. Killgore (Nancy Jane) and Dr. Gerald D. Killgore (Nancy B.) of Rosebud, TX.
The visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM on March 30, 2026 at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Rd., Hurst, TX. Funeral service will be 11:00 am on March 31, 2026 at DFW National Cemetery with full military honors, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
