Karen was born on January 16, 1940 in Dallas. Karen grew up in Dallas and graduated from South Oak Cliff High School. Shortly after high school, she was married and quickly became an Army wife. She and her family traveled with the military from October 1958 through November 1978, living in several states and completing three tours in Germany. She especially cherished her years in Germany, with Heidelberg and Mittelbach holding a special place in her heart. Her family spent the most time in Ft. Hood in Copperas Cove, Texas. After her three sons graduated from high school, Karen lived and worked in Copperas Cove, Dallas and Richmond, Texas. While in Richmond, she worked for the prison system for over 10 years. She retired in June 2005, moved to Grapevine in 2007, and has called it home for the past 18 years.
Karen found great joy in gardening, crafting and family. She loved unique plants and knew the official name and common name of any plant you would ask her about. She enjoyed crafts and her creativity was evident throughout her duplex. Above all, Karen cherished her family. She loved family get-togethers, no matter how big or small. Her sons, their families, her cousins, nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her endless happiness.
