Judy Lynn Saladino

August 28, 1943 — November 30, 2023

Judy Lynn (Lattis) Saladino died on Thursday, November 30, 2023.
Judy was born on August 28, 1943, in Louisville, Kentucky to William (Bud) and LaVerne Lattis. She was the third of five children and grew up in Louisville surrounded by a large extended family of numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was raised with a belief in hard work, strong faith, and good fun. In 1961, Judy started college at Loyola University in New Orleans where she soon met the love of her life, Tony Saladino. They were married in 1964 and began their life together in New Orleans. With sons Dan and Ben and daughter Amy, they moved to Hurst, Texas in 1970 and added Ann to the family a few years later. Like many moms in the ‘70s, Judy was a full-time homemaker, always busy cooking, cleaning the house, volunteering at the church and school, and playing games with her children.
As Tony built his art gallery and picture framing business, Judy began to work outside the home, serving in many different roles at Saladino Gallery. After working at the gallery for several years, followed by a job with the HEB school district, Judy decided to challenge herself with an entirely new career at Southwest Airlines. During her twenty years at Southwest, Judy worked in reservations, quality assurance, and eventually in IT projects. She was a proud and enthusiastic employee of Southwest Airlines and always spoke fondly of her numerous co-worker friends.
Throughout her life, Judy enjoyed music and the arts. She played the piano and sang in the church choir. Judy and Tony developed a shared love of dancing, including Argentine tango, and made numerous dancing friends over the years. She found relaxation in learning and practicing the art of Tai Chi. She also loved to travel and frequently took advantage of her company flight benefits. She often travelled to Louisville to spend time with family, especially her parents, her sisters Marilyn and Janet, and brothers Bill and Don. Judy also loved to celebrate the 4th of July, always attending the City of Hurst fireworks show, just down the street from her home. She loved her grandchildren and was always eager to play card games or board games or sing around the piano.
Judy was a life-long and devoted Catholic. She was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in North Richland Hills for over 53 years. In addition to singing in the church choir at numerous services and funerals, Judy also enjoyed volunteering outside the church with Meals on Wheels.
Judy was always known for her smile, her laughter, and her kindness to all. She faced life with joy, determination, and a positive attitude. In her later years, as she faced the challenge of Alzheimer’s, she bravely continued to smile and to show kindness to those around her. Friday night dinners with the family became the highlight of the week for Judy as the disease took its toll. Her determination to continue fighting each day, even when it was difficult, is an inspiration to all who knew her.
Judy is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Tony Saladino, and two siblings, Marilyn Lattis and Janet Lattis Teel (husband Ed). Her children and their spouses are Dan and Beth Saladino, Ben Saladino, Amy and Chad Chenault, and Ann Lindholm. Her grandchildren are Laura, Andrew, Nichole (husband Xavier), Emily, Bobby, Lena, William, and Caroline. Her great grandchildren are Lyla and Eli.
Her Mass will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, December 9th at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 7341 Glenview Dr., North Richland Hills, Texas, 76180. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Friday, December 8th at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Rd., Hurst, Texas, 76053.
The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to the Alzheimer's Association. https://www.alz.org/
