Today we gather with heavy hearts to remember and celebrate the life of our mom. Yes, we say "celebrate" because, as believers in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we believe, as our mom did, that we will see her again someday.

We believe that this life is just a short moment of time where we inhabit these temporary bodies, but the bigger joy is the eternity we spend with Jesus in heaven.

There is no doubt that mom loved the Lord. She raised us in such a way that every Sunday and every Wednesday night we were in church. Her faith was so relevant in her life that throughout her struggles and trials, she always anchored her days in the never-changing God that created her.

She enjoyed singing hymns and reading her Bible. She and Jay would always talk about the return of Jesus and what it might be like.Mom had several favorite things to talk about and spend time doing, but her biggest joy came from spending time with Jay out at the lake house. They made a life out there that was welcoming to anyone who wanted to come visit.

She was quick to open her doors and treat anyone that came in like part of the family. She was the happiest when her home was full and she could prepare a big meal for anyone who sat down at the table. When the house wasn't busy, she enjoyed just sitting with Jay and playing games. Whatever they did, they always did it together. There was not a time when they could be seen apart from each other, and during their time together they shared a lifetime of memories, side by side.

When Jay passed away in January, she truly lost her best friend. She longed every day to be with him, and the biggest comfort we have today is knowing that they are again side by side worshiping our Jesus.

She took great joy in her children. She always made a point to check in on everyone and make sure we all knew that she was thinking of us, even if it was a quick phonecall just to hear our voices. And, of course, in addition to her kids she had great pride in watching us raise families of our ownand giving her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She had so many that it was sometimes funny to listen to her start going through the list of names trying to find the right one to say and ask how they were doing. It was hard for her to keep up with all of the activities the grandchildren had going on, but she was quick to ask how they were all doing and make sure they knew she loved them.

The last several months of her life were difficult, for sure, as we watched her struggle with the loss of Jay. They had several friends from Discovery Village that continued to check on her and keep up with her, but it just wasn't the same without him.

When she moved into Legends, she quickly began making new friends, not only of the residents but also of the nursing staff. We heard many stories from her about the wonderful nurses that would come to spend time with her, chat about family, and just love on her. We also heard stories from the nurses about how she would playfully demand her coffee in the morning or come out and want them to help her get her jewelry on for the day. She never wanted to be seen without makeup and jewelry. No matter the circumstances, she always made people feel welcomed and loved. She spent every day with her friends reading her Bible and talking about going home to be with Jesus and Jay. She knew that the Bible is true and what Jesus told us is true. She knew that God's gift to us was His son.

She believed in her heart that Jesus paid that price for her and He was waiting for her. There is no doubt that mom touched many lives, and there is also no doubt that those lives will be forever changed.

Mom, we thank you for showing us what it means to love; the way you loved your family and, more importantly, the way you loved our Lord. We will always miss you, but, as we said in the beginning, as believers in Jesus we know that the day is coming when we will all be together again.

We can only imagine that on Wednesday, September 30th, 2026, Jesus finished your mansion and God said,

"It's time. Go get my daughter and bring her home."
