Juan (Muneco) Valdez of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Wednesday the 21st of May at 12:00 am at HEB Hospital in Bedford, Texas. He will always be remembered as a loving father, friend, colleague, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather to all that knew and loved him. He was born on February 4, 1943 in San Antonio, Texas to his father Juan Valdez and his mother Rutila De La Cruz. Juan has three sisters, Amelia, Angie and Evette. Also, survived by his nieces and nephews.
In high school, Juan’s goal was to be a printer tech. While working on the printed press, his finger got caught in the printer causing to lose half his ring finger. It is known in the church congregation that Juan would smile big and say, “Give me high four!” leaving laughter behind in the church hallways. He loved to play pool, in his younger days a baseball player, a coach, and loved cheering his Raiders, Spurs and Texas Rangers to victory. Sunday’s were dedicated to church. The first week of the month, he would volunteer at the church food pantry. At home every weekend, Juan was the pit master on the grill making the best ribs, brisket, and chicken for his family.
Juan is survived by his wife, Julia Valdez in Euless, Texas. Together, they have 4 daughters, 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by two sisters Amelia and Angie and daughter Cathy.
