Johnny Gordon Pannell

Johnny Gordon Pannell, 78 of Hurst, Texas passed from this life on April 15, 2026 and entered Heaven.

Johnny was born on July 11,1947 in Plano, Texas to Clifton and Sue Pannell. He was the oldest of 5 children. He grew up in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford area where he met the love of his life Nancy Brown. They were married on October 26, 1968. Johnny enlisted in the United States Navy in 1968 and proudly served aboard the USS Austin. He retired from Dallas Airmotive in 2012 after 40 years of service. He was a self taught musician who sang and played dobro and guitar for the groups “Friends and Family”, “The Back Porch Boys”, and “The Texas Trailblazers”.

Johnny was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, and friend. Though he wore many titles in life, the one he held closest to his heart was Paw Paw.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Nancy Pannell; his daughters, Kristie Yancey and her husband Eddie, and Jennifer Robison and her husband Shawn; his grandchildren, Amanda, Emily, Erin and her husband Josh, Reece, Blake, Jackson, Shelby, and Kaylie; and one great-grandson, Asa. He is also survived by his sisters, Rita Parker and her husband Gary, and Frances Morris, along with numerous extended family and friends.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Eddie Pannell, and his sister Carol Emmons.
