John Michael Leek

John Michael Leek, born December 13, 1951, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, in Grapevine, Texas. He was 74 years old.

Throughout his life, John was known for his gentle spirit, steadfast resilience, and unwavering love for his family. Born to Margaret Mary Jordan and William Richard Leek, Sr., both of whom preceded him in death, John grew up in a home where the values of integrity and kindness guided his every step. He carried these lessons with him throughout his life, becoming a steady source of support and wisdom for those fortunate enough to know him.

Family was always at the center of John’s world. He is survived by his beloved son, Aristotle Esguerra, whose life was continually blessed by John’s guidance and encouragement. John also leaves behind a cherished legacy in his grandchildren: Jolina Frye, Pauline Esguerra, and Jino Rufino. The arrival of his great-grandson, Atlas Frye, brought a renewed sense of joy and hope into his later years. He is also survived by his brothers, Tom Leek and William Leek, whose bonds with John were forged through a lifetime of shared experiences and brotherly love.

John's family circle was touched by loss as well, having been preceded in death by his wife, Benita Leek in 2015, brother Dan Leek and his sister-in-law Chiquita Leek. Their memories, along with those of his parents, remained a profound source of strength for John throughout his days.

John proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Constitution. The VA was a central point in his life. Those who knew John will remember him for his thoughtful nature and steadfast devotion—a man whose quiet acts of kindness left an enduring impact on all. His wisdom was given freely, and his humility was ever-present. Whether gathered around the family table or sharing a quiet conversation, John's presence was a grounding force, offering comfort and reassurance.

John Michael Leek’s life was a testament to the meaning of family, connection, and quiet dignity. While his absence leaves a space that can never be filled, his values and love live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

The memories, values, and love John instilled in his family and friends will be cherished always as they honor his life and legacy.

A visitation is scheduled for Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Lucas Funeral Home, 700 West Wall Street, Grapevine, Texas 76051. A Celebration of John's life will be held at 11:00 am, following visitation.

Burial will be held Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 11:00 am at the DFW National Cemetery where military honors will be rendered.
