Jessie Lou Hall Nelson, born March 22, 1936, in Fort Worth, Texas, gently passed away on May 26, 2025, in Grapevine, Texas. She lived a full and vibrant life, marked by her love for music, family, and the cherished memories she created on her beloved farm.
A graduate of Grapevine High School in 1954, Jessie Lou pursued her passion for music, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from North Texas State University in 1958. Her love for music blossomed at an early age; she began playing the organ at church at just 16 years old. By the early 90s, she found her final church home at the Pleasant Glade Baptist Church in Colleyville, Texas. There she continued playing both the piano and organ - a testament to her lifelong dedication to sharing joy through her art.
Jessie Lou loved all things Christmas. Her warmth shone brightly through her annual Christmas gatherings, which became a celebrated tradition among family and friends. Known for her festive parties, she had a remarkable talent for bringing people together, filling their hearts with the spirit of the season. Outside of the holidays, Jessie Lou loved spending time with her grandchildren and nurturing both her farm and her animals.
She is survived by her loving family: son James Nelson (Lisa), daughter Mendi Huffman (Darrell), grandchildren Justin Nelson (Sasha), Caden Nelson (Rachel), Jace Nelson, Halli Huffman, Wren Huffman, and great-grandchildren Violet Nelson and Willow Nelson. Jessie Lou was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who reveled in the joys of family life, always surrounded by the love of those she cherished most. She also leaves behind two sweet puppy dogs, Tuffy and Taffy, who provided her with companionship and joy.
Jessie Lou is preceded in death by her father Jess Hall, her mother Ruth Hall, her brother Marvin Hall, and Hal Nelson. Though they have parted ways, their memories and the love they shared will forever remain in the hearts of her family.
A viewing will be held on May 30, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by her funeral service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Pleasant Glade Baptist Church, located at 3708 W Glade Rd, Colleyville, TX 76034. Jessie Lou will be remembered not only for her contributions to her community through music and connection but also as a beacon of love and kindness in her family’s lives. Her legacy will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
