Jerry Charles Vandever, 83, of Keller, Texas, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024. He was born on July 2, 1941, in Morgan Mill, Texas, to Chlona Lee and W.O. (Bill) Vandever. He attended school in Morgan Mill through the 9th grade, graduated from Stephenville High School, and was proud to be part of the first 4-year graduating class at Tarleton State University.
Jerry worked as the comptroller of a trucking company, in banking, where he was manager of the trust accounting department, and finally, in fundraising at Baylor All Saints Hospital.
In 1968, he married Sherry Mabery, and they began their 56-year marriage. They were blessed with two daughters, Tanya and Julie, and made their home in Bedford before settling in Keller.
A committed member of the Keller community, Jerry was actively involved in service to others. He was an active member of his local church, served as President of the Keller Lions Club, and gave his time to organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and Meals on Wheels. His love of nature and being around people was reflected in the joy he brought to those around him.
Jerry was a man of faith who will be remembered for his friendly spirit, infectious laughter, and deep care for others.
He is now celebrating in Heaven, free from the damage he suffered from a stroke two and a half years ago.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Vandever of Keller; daughters Tanya Decross and husband Darin of North Richland Hills, and Julie Harbour and husband Derrick of Keller; granddaughter Amanda Maldanado and husband Jordan of Laguna Niguel, California; two grandsons, Luke and Joel Harbour; and three great-grandsons, Anthony, Roman, and Reign Maldonado.
