Jerry Donis Kight

Jerry Donis Kight was born on September 12, 1939, in Goldthwaite, Texas, to John Driskill (J.D.) Kight and Faye Massey Kight. He passed away on August 31, 2026, at the age of 86, remembered fondly by his family and all who knew him.

Jerry graduated from Goldthwaite High School in 1958 and from the University of North Texas in 1962. He taught journalism and American History at Kermit High School for four years. In 1968, he married Vicki (Crabb) Kight, and the following year he joined Jostens, the well-known maker of class rings, championship rings, yearbooks, and academic regalia. Together, he and Vicki built the business he loved for over three decades before he retired in 2003.

Above all, Jerry cherished his family. He shared a devoted life with his wife, Vicki, and was proud of his son, Kyle Kight, and his daughter-in-law, Sarah. He took great joy in his grandchildren, Justin and Grace Kight.

Jerry had a wonderful sense of humor and loved making people laugh. He believed all people deserved to be treated with respect, and his word was his bond.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Driskill Kight; his mother, Faye Massey Kight; and his sister, Loretta Rickel.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Vicki Kight; his son, Kyle Kight, and daughter-in-law, Sarah; his grandchildren, Justin Driskill Kight and Grace Adele Kight; his nephews, Jeff Rickel and Randy Rickel; and his niece, Cindy Musick.

Jerry Donis Kight will be remembered with love for his devotion to family and the care he showed to all who knew him. May his memory be a comfort to those who mourn him and a lasting blessing for years to come.
