Jerry Floyd Waldrup

Jan 31, 1939 — Sep 10, 2026

Grapevine, Texas

Jerry Waldrup, of Grapevine, Texas, went to be with the Lord on September 10, 2026. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family. Jerry, affectionately known as “Papa,” will always be remembered as a kind, loving, and generous family man and friend. Papa was a dedicated husband to his wife, Glendora; a supportive father to his children, Drew and Sabra; a proud grandfather of six; and a great-grandfather of three.

He was born on January 31, 1939, in Sanger, Texas, to James Robert and Frances Bedoe Waldrup. He moved to Grapevine as a small child, where he spent his childhood and attended Grapevine High School. He later attended North Texas State University, where he earned a degree in business. Jerry then served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed overseas, primarily in Germany. During this time, a very important blind date took place. On that date, he was introduced to a witty and beautiful woman, his future wife, Glendora Thornhill of Summit, Mississippi. It was love at first sight and a love that would last a lifetime. The two were married in Fort Smith, Arkansas, on April 24, 1962, and remained married for 61 years. After Jerry completed his military service, they moved back to Texas, where they had two children, Drew and Sabra. Jerry worked professionally in the property management industry, managing a variety of properties across the nation for leading property management companies. He retired in 1997.

Jerry was an avid golfer. He played some of the most prestigious courses in the United States and Europe. His favorite was the Old Course at St. Andrews. He always had a story to tell about his golfing adventures, especially St. Andrews. Papa’s pride and joy was his family. He loved family gatherings and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jerry is survived by his sister, Linda Goss of Grapevine, Texas; his daughter, Sabra, and her husband, Kip Ewing, of Gustine, Texas; his grandchildren, Jace Ewing and his wife, Malarie, and their son, Tripp, of Godley, Texas; Cort Ewing of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Meghan Karl and her husband, Cody, and their daughter, Minna, of Kemah, Texas; Bailey Housh and her husband, Ben, and their son, Luca, of Greenville, Michigan; Jacob Waldrup and his future wife, Alana Stolnitz, of Washington, D.C.; and Sara Waldrup of Pasadena, Texas. He is also survived by multiple nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Glendora Waldrup; his son, Drew Waldrup; his parents, James Robert and Frances Bedoe Waldrup; his sisters, Alice Hardin and Donna Jorden; and his brother, Jim Waldrup.
