Rev. Jerry Eugene Brown
August 11, 1943 — April 11, 2026
Rev. Jerry Eugene Brown, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and dedicated servant of God, peacefully departed this world on April 11, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on August 11, 1943, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Jerry's journey through life was marked by unwavering faith, love for his family, and a commitment to helping others. The son of Walter D. Brown and Mattie Etta Hicks, Jerry was raised in a household filled with love and values that would guide him throughout his life. Tragically, he was predeceased by his parents, his brother Charles Brown, and his sister Jackie Tomlinson. He carried their memories with him, ensuring their legacy lived on in the lives of those he touched. At the tender age of 17, Jerry embarked on a journey of service, joining the US Navy in August 1960. His years of military service until August 1964 were the foundation of his lifelong dedication to the service of others. After his honorable service, Jerry pursued his education with fervor and determination, earning a doctorate degree from Ozark Bible Institute in Neosho, Missouri, and obtaining a CNA certification, setting the stage for his future ministry. For over three decades, Jerry was a beacon of light as a Pentecostal preacher, traveling the world to build schools and share the word of God. His journey saw him transform from a traveling evangelist to a steadfast pillar of support at the Fishers Of Men mission in Fort Worth, Texas, where he spent his later years serving his community in any way he could. Jerry was a proud and active member of the Church of God ministry, where his warm smile and inclusive spirit left a lasting impression on all who met him. He was a man who loved without condition, embracing everyone with open arms regardless of their religion or sexual orientation. Beyond his ministry, Jerry found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a deep love for gospel music and was particularly fond of Jim Nabors' soothing tones. Western movies and Star Wars captivated his imagination, while his hobby of collecting coins brought him endless fascination and delight. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his cherished great-grandchildren, watching them grow and thrive. Jerry's legacy continues through his surviving family members: his children John E. Sparks, Wilson L. Sparks, Sandy and Brian Bullard, Sonja and David Hodgson, and Jennifer and Cody Borman, as well as his 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life. In these moments of grief, the family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Star City Hospice and the kind-hearted caregivers at the home where Jerry resided in Hurst. Their compassion and dedication brought comfort to Jerry in his final days. The family also offers their thanks to the staff at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst for their unwavering support during this difficult time. Rev. Jerry Eugene Brown's life was a testament to the power of love, compassion, and faith. His spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
