Jeanne Marie Dixon Mortensen, 69, passed away at her home in Grapevine, Texas July 10, 2025. Jeanne was born on September 12, 1955, in Jackson, Mississippi to Lonnie Ernest Dixon and Delores Bardsley Dixon.
Predeceased by her parents, by her beloved husband, Lyle Mortensen, step-son Lee Cardon Mortensen, and step-daughter Lisa Louise Mortensen Wolcott. Jeanne is survived by stepdaughter Leslie (Brian) Thorne, step-son Lyn Mortensen, step-grandchildren Lauren Wallace (Jason) Ray; Demi (Anthony) Rainaldi, Taylor Garcia (Dominic), Brenna Mortensen (Eddy Yunkherr), Gwenyth Mortensen, Dylan Brog, and great step-grandchildren Korben Ray, Addelyn Rainaldi, and Delaney Rainaldi. She is also survived by brother- and sister-in-law Mark & LaFaunda Curtis, nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
Jeanne grew up in Mississippi. She attended Brigham Young University, graduating with a degree in Elementary Education.
After college, Jeanne remained in Utah and worked various jobs before working as a secretary in a small accounting business where she met Lyle Mortensen. She left that job and later reconnected with Lyle as they had become friends while working together.
Jeanne married Lyle in January 1986 and moved to Plano, Texas soon after. They later settled in Grapevine, Texas. Jeanne quickly and easily loved Lyle’s children and his loud, colorful and extensive family. Because Lyle’s four children lived in Utah, they would often visit there and with his extended in Lyle’s home state of Arizona.
Jeanne was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a strong testimony of the Gospel. Her favorite calling was as a temple worker and she and Lyle served in the Dallas Texas Temple for many years.
Jeanne loved music and had a beautiful, resonant, contralto singing voice often singing with the men in the tenor section of the choir. Jeanne also loved to travel and would try—and usually enjoy—any activity that Lyle would do such as scuba diving, snorkeling, motorcycling, and etc. She shared a particular love for Mexico with Lyle, as they would travel as often as they could. Jeanne was a voracious reader, very inquisitive, and could hold the most interesting conversations. She loved to laugh, had a great sense of humor, and could laugh at herself. Jeanne sparked a joy that lifted others. She brought a light that will be missed.
