Jason Clarke Marshall
July 5, 1970 - March 31, 2026
Jason Clarke Marshall was born in Fort Worth, Texas to John Riddle Marshall
and Carol Sue Clarke Marshall. He spent his earliest years in Gladewater, Texas,
moving to Lancaster, Texas just before his 5th birthday. There he attended
Lancaster schools, earned the rank of Eagle Scout at age 14, and was graduated
from Lancaster High School, with honors, in 1988. He attended Texas A& M
University where he earned a B.S in Economics with honors. He earned his law
degree from the UT School of Law school.
Jason’s legal career began with Nichols, Jackson, Dillard, Hager,& Smith,LLP,
earning a partnership. There he represented Texas Cities and Appraisal Districts.
Following that he was a shareholder of Winstead, Sechrest, & Minick, one of the
largest firms in Texas. There he represented numerous municipalities and tax
appraisal districts. In 2005 he started the Marshall Firm, specializing in Real
Estate and Property Tax matters.
Jason was a certified mediator, and licensed to practice in the U.S. Courts for the
Northern and Eastern Districts, as well as the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. He
regularly addressed conferences held by the State Bar of Texas, Texas
Association of Assessing Officers, Texas Association of Appraisal Districts,
Texas Association of Property Tax Professionals. He was Past-President of the
Dallas Federal Bar Association.
While Jason was a highly respected attorney, he possessed other unique gifts;
he was able to remodel a house, rebuild computers and refurbish cars. Upon his
death he owned 12 classic cars, mostly Porsches. He loved his nieces and
nephews, supporting each one with a generous contribution toward meeting their
academic goals. He also loved going to the beach, where he owned an ocean
front condo solely to be shared with family, friends and clients. He could always
make us laugh by telling hilarious stories from his own experiences in his career
as an attorney.
Jason was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffrey Marshall. Jason is survived by
his parents, John and Carol Sue Marshall of Colleyville, TX, one brother, John C.
Marshall (wife Jennifer) of Sapulpa Ok, and two sisters Molly Jett Pruner
(husband Bryan) of North Richland Hills, TX and Morgan Kate Tatsumi-Lane of
Coppell,TX. He leaves nine nephews and nieces: Joel Boots-Marshall, Owen
Boots-Marshall, Jade Williams, Jett Williams, Ethan Pruner and Aidan Pruner,
Landon Tatsumi, Max Tatsumi, and Clara Lane. Jason was the very proud God
Father to Larkin Jordan of Pensacola, FL
Jason was respected and loved by many professional and personal friends, who
knew him to be extremely generous.
A Celebration of Jason’s life will be held at 1:00pm May 30, 2026 at the First United Methodist Church in Hurst,Texas.
