Jason Burnette

September 2, 1978 — May 20, 2025

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Jason Scott Burnette, who departed this life on May 20, 2025, at the age of 46.

Born on September 2, 1978, in Odessa, Texas, Jason was the beloved son of the late Sandra Lee Collins and David Paul Burnette. He is also preceded in death by his stepfather, Bill Garrett whom he was raised by alongside his mother.

Jason's life was one marked by love, dedication, and adventure. A graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington and the Kellogg School of Management, Jason pursued excellence both personally and professionally. He had a zest for life, a strong Christian faith, and a passion for the outdoors—he was an avid runner and ran marathons, loved fishing, hunting, camping, lake days, and playing poker. He was also a devoted sports coach to his children’s teams, taking pride in supporting them in all they did, and guiding other young athletes.

On August 14, 2001, Jason married his high school sweetheart Amber. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised two cherished children, Aniston and Seth. Jason's family was his greatest joy and proudest achievement. He is also survived by his sister, Kristi Kribbs, his brother Jay Burnette, his stepfather Michael Collins, nieces and nephews, and many other loving family members and dear friends who will forever miss his fun spirit and infectious enthusiasm.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 29th, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, with his funeral service starting at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause close to Jason’s heart.

Jason’s stories, advice, and warm hugs will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him and his legacy of love, laughter, and strength will live on in the many lives he touched.
