Janice Jean Wilson

September 7, 1939 — February 17, 2026

Coppell

Janice Beal Wilson, 86, of Coppell, Texas, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, died of natural causes on February 17, 2026. Her life was marked by deep faith, love for her family, a passion for teaching, and a spirited competitiveness that made life with her lively and joyful. Of her many roles, being a mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend brought her the most delight.

Janice was born on September 7, 1939, to Oren and Burma Beal and grew up in Bryan, Texas alongside her brothers, Oren Jr. and Brad. From an early age, her energy and determination were evident. She attended Travis, Lamar, and Stephen F. Austin schools in Bryan, where she was a cheerleader, a member of the tennis team, active in Girl Scouts, and a member of the National Honor Society.

Janice attended Baylor University, where she met the love of her life, Frank M. Wilson, during Welcome Week of her freshman year. Their first date included going to church together and dancing to a jukebox at his country club. It was the beginning of a lifelong partnership filled with faith and fun. They married in June of 1961 and shared 61 happy years together.

Janice and Frank built a family that was her greatest pride and joy. They had three children: Scott, Susan, and Bart — all of whom became proud Baylor Bears. Her grandchildren were a constant source of joy — and at times, friendly competition. She celebrated their lives with enthusiasm and, along with Frank, was never shy about sharing their wins.

Janice devoted 39 years of her life to teaching in Irving, serving at Crockett, Bowie, MacArthur, and Irving High School. She had a true gift for teaching and connecting with students. Education was not just her profession; it was her calling. Beyond the classroom, Janice invested in countless lives through tutoring and mentoring. In fact, she personally tutored each of her children and grandchildren in mathematics over the years. Janice was patient beyond measure!

Her faith in Christ shaped all aspects of her life. She loved teaching Bible classes and treasured the friendships formed through years of study and fellowship. She was especially grateful for her time at Plymouth Park Baptist Church and with Common Bond Bible Studies and for the opportunities the Lord gave her to teach, encourage, and grow alongside others in His Word. She also cherished the friendship and laughter she shared with the Bunco Babes, joyfully welcoming everyone into her home for celebrations, game nights, and gatherings that reflected her generous spirit and the deep friendships she nurtured.

Janice also enjoyed traveling. Among her most treasured memories were a church mission trip to Japan, time spent in Merton, England through the Irving Schools Foundation exchange program, and annual gatherings in Big Sky with dear friends and family — along with many other adventures with family and friends.

Her legacy lives on in the faith she shared, the lessons she taught, and the love she so faithfully poured into her family and all those blessed to know her.

She is survived by her son Frank Scott Wilson and wife Diane; daughter Susan Young and husband Paul; son Bart Wilson and Laurie Wilson; her eight grandchildren: Lauren and her husband Parker Threadgill, Connor and his wife Brooklyn, Carter and his wife Kori, Madison and her husband Daniel Moore, Whitney and her husband Blake Hoelzel, Claire, Kate, and Audrey; her great-grandchildren Matteo and Judah, sons of Lauren and Parker; her brothers: Oren Jr. and his wife, Pat, and their daughter, Karen Winn, who with her husband Andy has sons Harrison and Matthew; and Brad and his wife, Peggy, and their sons Ryan and Todd; and the countless friends and many lives Janice has touched throughout her life. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Veronica Ramirez, Janice’s devoted caregiver and dear friend for over five years, whose compassion and steadfast presence brought comfort and dignity to her final years.

The celebration of Janice’s life will be on February 28, 2026, at 1 pm at CrossCreek Church, located at 5300 Colleyville Blvd., Colleyville, TX 76034, with a reception to follow. If desired, donations in Janice’s name can be made to the "Baylor Bear Foundation" in Waco, Texas.
