James Clovis Touchet

April 21, 1927 — December 29, 2025

James (Jim) C. Touchet, 98, of North Richland Hills, Texas, passed away on December 29, 2025, in North Richland Hills. He will forever be remembered as a solder, a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Jim was born on April 21, 1927, in Gueydan, Louisiana, to Clarence Touchet and Rita Stoute. From the beginning of his life to his passing, Jim faced many challenges. Through all of these, he persevered and was determined not to be defeated.

At the age of 8, Jim lost both his parents within six months of each other. He and his two sisters were sent to live with different relatives. Jim moved from family to family, often becoming an extra mouth to feed for farming families with little income. His highest level of formal education prior to enlisting was the sixth grade.

At the age of 18, Jim joined the United States Army. He spent 28 years serving his country, pursuing numerous accomplishments and always striving for the next level. During his time, he obtained his GED and college studies. He loved his country and dedicated his life to protecting it so that we could have our freedom. Jim was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. At retirement in March 1973, he held the distinguished rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was loved, respected, and admired by many. He led the enlisted soldiers to become their best and to take pride in serving their country.

Jim will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege and honor of knowing him. As father, father-in-law and grandpa/great grandpa, his love for us, wisdom and support will always be remembered.

He is survived by his daughter Beatrice Helene Touchet Uhl and son-in-law Tony L. Uhl; three grandchildren and their spouses: Rondal James Uhl, John Evan Uhl, and Elizabeth Helene Uhl Lawson; nine great-grandchildren: Charlie and Theodore James Uhl; Emilia, Harrison, and Vivian Uhl; and Lucas, Evelyn Helene, Alexander, and Tanner Lawson; his nephews, their spouses and children in Louisiana; and many friends and comrades he met during his 98 years of life.

He is preceded in death by his best friend and traveling partner Miron Porter, who passed a few years ago and whom he missed every day until his passing. He is also preceded by his former wife Elfriede Helene Lang Touchet, whom he met and married in Germany in September 1949.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 10, 2025 from 9:00 to 10:00 am. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am at Lucas Funeral Home, Hurst, Texas. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 pm in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park, Colleyville, Texas.
