James "Jim" Ray Deshazo

James Ray “Jimbob” DeShazo, beloved husband, father, friend, and longtime member of the western-wear industry, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the age of 79.

Jim was born on March 30, 1947, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Charles Ray and Myra DeShazo. He graduated from Amon Carter Riverside High School in 1965, where he began a life marked by hard work, loyalty, humor and an ability to make friends wherever he went.

He went on to attend Texas Wesleyan College, becoming the first college graduate of his family. During college, Jim worked at KTVT Channel 11 as a cameraman before moving into advertising sales. In 1980, he began what would become a long and successful career in the western wear business, joining Acme Boot Company as a sales representative. His career took him and his family to Memphis, Tennessee and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, before eventually bringing them home to Fort Worth.

For more than four decades, Jim built a reputation in the industry that extended far beyond business. He represented some of the most respected names in the industry, including Acme, Dan Post, Nocona Belt, MNF, Lucchese and Old West. His colleagues, bosses and customers became some of his most treasured friends. Jim had a genuine gift for people, never meeting a stranger. Those who knew him will remember his warmth, humor and generosity.

On November 17, 1967, Jim married his high school sweetheart, Patricia. Their marriage was the beginning of a beautiful life together filled with family, friendship, travel, laughter and countless memories. They enjoyed time at the beach, trips to Colorado, golf, college football, and most importantly, raising their two daughters and watching their family grow.

Jim also loved taking fishing trips with his brother-in-law, sons in law and nephews. They caught fish in Arkansas, Alaska, Colorado, and Belize.

Jim was a devoted husband and father, but perhaps his favorite role was that of “Jimbob” to his four grandchildren. He took pride in his family and cherished time that he spent with them.

Jim is survived by his wife, Patricia of Mansfield, Texas; his daughters Dawn Ligon and her husband, Grady Ligon of Mansfield, Texas and Leigh Ann Bourgeois and her husband, Brandon Bourgeois of Mount Juliet, Tennessee; and his treasured grandchildren, Caroline Ligon, Will Ligon, Luke Bourgeois and Jack Bourgeois.

A service for Jim will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 2pm at Lucas Funeral Home at 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst, Texas 76053
