James David Dees, Master Sargeant (USAF Retired), 95 years old, met his Lord and Savior on April 29, 2025. James (“Jim”, “Dad”, “Papa”) was born on August 31,1929 to Arthur and Ruby Dees in Westgreen, Georgia. He was the second of six children.
Jim passed away from pneumonia, following hip fracture surgery.
Preceding Jim in death was his sweetheart and love of his life, Betty Louise Carter Dees and wife of 68 years. Also preceding Jim in death were his brothers Arthur and Robert and sisters Johnnie Mae and Polly.
Including his youngest sibling, Ormond, Jim is survived by his 2 children, James “David” Dees, Jr. and Debra Sue Manale (husband Bullett Manale). He is also survived by his 3 grandchildren, Brandon Dunn, Joshua Dunn and Laurie Knight (husband Kyle Knight). Four great grandchildren include Camryn Molnar, Sydney Knight, Nolan Dunn and Hudson Knight.
Jim proudly served in the US Air Force for twenty-one years, retiring in the summer of 1967. His military assignments include Goose Bay Labrador, Saudi Arabia, Alabama, Germany, Kansas and North Dakota. Many dear friends blessed his life through these assignments. Jim also retired from Tarrant County College after 10 years of employment.
Jim leaves behind many dear friends at Morado Meadow Lakes Retirement Community with whom he shared his endless joke-telling and also survived his scooter speeding in the hallways.
He was known to say many times that those who were patiently awaiting his arrival in heaven probably gave up and thought he didn’t “make it” since it took him so long!
Jim’s family is forever grateful to all who loved him and laughed at his jokes. He loved making people laugh! Thank you for all the prayers for comfort during his last days.
A very special thank you to Magnolia Hospice and HEB Hospital Oncology Unit who lovingly helped him transition peacefully to his heavenly eternal home.
