Jack Steven Spears Jr. was born in Melbourne, Florida, on March 16, 1955. He was one of five sons born to Jack Sr. and Geraldine Spears.
Jack loved horses from the time he was a boy, and the cowboy in him never faded. He and his four brothers spent their days outside from sunup to sundown, barefoot, covered in dirt, in swamps, and finding their own adventures. He grew into a man who was tough as nails, strong-willed, and never afraid to speak his mind. He had a quick wit and a smile that those who loved him knew well.
Jack came from a long line of woodworkers and learned techniques passed down through generations. His carpentry skills were second to none. His hands were rarely idle, and he could find a way to fix or improve almost anything.
Jack had a strength that showed most clearly when life was hard. He faced setbacks with determination, made the best of what he had, and usually found a reason to laugh along the way. He was stubborn in the way only Jack could be, especially when someone told him he could not do something. He lived life on his own terms, with grit and courage.
Above all, Jack loved his family. He married Terri in 1978, and together they shared two children, Bobby and Karli, whom he loved fiercely.
Having a son first was a dream come true for Jack. Sharing a middle name, they also shared a love of building, hunting, Jeeps, and all things outdoors. Jack was especially proud that Bobby followed in his footsteps and shared in his trade.
Karli was the apple of his eye, and being born on Father’s Day made her arrival even more special and sealed the deal. She also shared his love of fishing and the outdoors, music, and his curiosity for genealogy. Their bond brought Jack the greatest joy.
Although their marriage eventually ended, Jack and Terri remained dear friends, and his love for her family endured to the very end. He was always there for Terri’s four sisters. In many ways, he was their Superman, but more than that, he was their brother, and they loved him dearly.
Jack was a proud grandfather to Delaney, Valor, and Reagan, who knew him as Pops. They will remember trips to the ice cream shop, the rare coins and guitars he loved to show them, and how easily he could make them laugh. Valor will remember the hunting advice Pops gave him, and Reagan will remember running after his Jeep to wave goodbye.
He leaves behind many nieces and nephews, each carrying their own favorite stories and memories of him. There will never be a shortage of Jack’s sayings to repeat, laugh about, and pass down through the generations. Those stories will keep his voice, his humor, and his spirit alive for years to come.
Jack was loyal and true blue to his family. He loved deeply, worked hard, faced adversity with strength, and brought humor wherever he went.
His absence will be felt deeply by the family who loves him endlessly. His memory, however, will live on in the stories we tell, the lessons he left behind, the things he built, and the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to have known him. They will miss him desperately but know that families are forever, and they will see him again.
Jack passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026, surrounded by his children and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Sr. and Geraldine Spears; Bobby Ray and Doylene; and his brothers, Greg Spears, Wayne Spears, and Roger Spears.
Jack is survived by his brother, Clint Spears, and his wife, Kim; his son, Bobby Spears; his daughter, Karli Chambers, and her husband, Blake; his self-claimed son, Zachary Bartlett; his grandchildren, Delaney Spears, Valor Chambers, and Reagan Chambers; his sisters, Cheri, Bobbi, Kelli, and Lorri; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
