In Loving Memory of Houston Wayne Killian September 3, 1936 – June 29, 2025

Houston Wayne Killian of Bedford, Texas, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished Pawpaw, and loyal friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at the age of 88, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on September 3, 1936, in Farmersville, Texas, to Margie and Steve Killian, Wayne was one of six children in a close-knit family. He grew up with strong values of hard work, humility, and kindness—qualities that shaped the incredible man he became.

Wayne married the love of his life, Doris Killian, and together they shared 66 beautiful years of marriage. He was a devoted provider and worked diligently for 37 years at Bell Helicopter/Textron as an inspector until his retirement in 1999.

After retiring, Wayne and Doris moved to Pecan Plantation Country Club in Granbury, where he joined the Men’s Golf Association and made many treasured friendships. In 2018, they returned to Bedford to be closer to family.

Wayne lived a life filled with love, laughter, and generosity. He was deeply admired by everyone who knew him—never judgmental, always kind, patient, and quick to offer a smile or a helping hand and had a knack for connecting with people. He was an exceptional domino and poker player, a skilled golfer, and a fantastic cook. Wayne had a “green thumb” and enjoyed seeing the beauty of his plants.

He found joy in life’s simple pleasures such as laughing, dancing, traveling (especially to Hawaii, the Caribbean, Canada and Las Vegas), and spending time with family and friends.

He was baptized on January 22, 2006, at Lakeside Baptist Church in Granbury and later became a member of Acton Baptist Church in May 2018.

Wayne is survived by his beloved wife, Doris Killian; his daughter, Lisa Killian and her spouse Meg Hayes; his son, Jeff Killian and his wife Kelly Killian; and his grandsons, Conner and Chandler Killian. He is also survived by his sisters, Diane Cholakian and Linda Dawson, along with many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Margie and Steve Killian; his brothers, Ray and Jerry Killian; and his sister, Fran Killian.

Wayne’s legacy is one of unconditional love, quiet strength, humility and unwavering faith. He will be missed beyond words but remembered always.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7
