Euless

Helen Irene Beseda Payton of Euless, Texas passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025 at the age of 93. She was an only child born to William Henry Beseda and Betty Snapka Beseda in West, Texas. Helen married Jimmy Payton in 1950 and they made their home in Euless where they were deeply rooted and joyfully participated in building their community.

Over their 74-year marriage, Helen’s interests revolved around her home and family. She was an avid gardener and a member of the Euless Garden Club. She enjoyed both flower gardening and growing a vegetable garden that not only graced her family’s table, but also provided bountiful gifts (especially tomatoes and onions!) to their friends and neighbors.  She was a magnificent cook and they delighted in hosting family celebrations and holiday gatherings. As children came along, she wasted no time in becoming involved in school activities, proving to be a Room Mom Extraordinaire. She was an active member and leader in PTA. Helen devoted countless hours to their church community at First United Methodist Church of Euless. Her effortless charm and humble demeanor served her well as First Lady of the Texas Automobile Dealers Association and the National Automobile Dealers Association, though she would have much preferred to remain outside the spotlight. In later years she invested her time and talent in the Euless Historical Preservation Committee.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Betty Beseda. She is survived by her husband, Jimmy C. Payton, Sr., her daughter Nancy Payton and son Jimmy Payton Jr. and wife Chris. She is also survived by grandchildren Justin Payton and wife Madison, Matthew Payton and wife Kari, Natalie Payton, Callye Payton and Cole Payton, two precious great-granddaughters, Holland Payton and Charli Payton, and a beloved circle of nephews, nieces and friends.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Lucas Funeral Home of Hurst. In keeping with her modest wishes, Interment will be at Bluebonnet Hills Cemetery following a simple graveside service on Tuesday, June 10th.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Texas Health Resources Foundation, Ash Lane United Methodist Church or a charity of choice.
