Heather M Halcrow

August 31, 1954 — April 2, 2026

Heather M. Halcrow, age 72, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026. Born on August 31, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois, Heather lived a life marked by creativity, resilience, and a deep appreciation for both nature and the arts.

She was the beloved daughter of Robert M. Halcrow and Eugenia Timko, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Oscarson, and her lifelong partner, James Archer.

Heather was raised in the greater Chicago area, where she attended public schools and briefly studied at Northwestern University of Illinois before entering the workforce. She built a career as a telecommunications specialist with GTE, where she dedicated many years of service.

From an early age, Heather embraced the outdoors, enjoying camping, hiking, bird watching, and fishing. In her younger years, she found great joy in training show dogs, particularly flat coat retrievers, earning several lower-level championships in the 1970s.

A gifted and passionate artist, Heather had a remarkable talent for capturing the essence of animals through her work. She specialized in realistic animal portraits using pencil, pastels, and charcoal, and her creativity earned her recognition in multiple art competitions during her early adulthood.

Heather also held a deep love for literature, particularly mystery, suspense, and thriller novels, often finding comfort and adventure within the pages of a good book.

An Illinois native, Heather met her lifelong partner, James Archer, in the suburbs of Chicago in the 1980s. Together, they built a life rooted in love and companionship before relocating to Texas in 1985, where they became common law married.

She is survived by her brother, Gordon Halcrow; her three children, Jennifer Archer, John Archer, and Jaclyn Archer; and her two grandsons, Jackson and Jameson, who brought immense joy and pride to her life.

A celebration of Heather’s life will be held at Lucas Funeral Home, 1601 S. Main Street, Keller, TX 76248. The family has respectfully declined a public viewing or wake.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to help cover funeral costs. Contributions may be directed to Jennifer Archer at 865 Santa Fe Trail, Keller, TX 76248.

Heather will be remembered for her artistic spirit, her love of nature, and the warmth she brought to those who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
