Gwenda Faye Summy

Aug 8, 1947 — May 29, 2026

Southlake, Texas

Gwenda Faye Summy of Keller, Texas, passed away on May 29, 2026, at the age of 78. Her passing was sudden, as she was called immediately into the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Gwenda was born on August 8, 1947, in Holdenville, Oklahoma, to James Clyde Roberts and Eula Faye Roberts. On November 29, 1963, she married the love of her life, Jerry Summy, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Together they shared nearly 63 years of marriage filled with faith, family, and ministry.

She was preceded in death by her infant twin brother, James Ray Roberts; her father, James Clyde Roberts; her mother, Eula Faye Rinehart; her sister, Amby Roberts; and her stepbrother, Jimmy Rinehart.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Summy; her stepfather, James Rinehart; her brother, Jimmy Roberts; and her stepbrother, Jason Rinehart; her children, Scott and Lenna Summy, Jamie and Brian Howard, and Jon and Lisa Summy; her grandchildren, Ashley and Chris Halyk, Hunter Summy, Fielder and Alexis Summy, Madeline Howard, Noelle Howard, Jase Summy, and Ellis Summy; and her great-grandchildren, Lola and Harper Halyk.

Gwenda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of the Lord. For 51 years she served alongside her husband in ministry, embracing her calling as a pastor's wife. She loved the people of Northeast Baptist Church and found great joy in serving wherever she was needed. Whether teaching children in Children's Church, decorating for special events, or simply encouraging others, she faithfully pointed people to Christ.

Of all her titles, her favorite was "Grammy." Blessed with seven grandchildren, she had a remarkable gift for making each one feel deeply loved and uniquely special. "Grammy" was more than a nickname, it reflected the warmth, kindness, and unconditional love she shared with her family every day.

Her passing leaves a great emptiness in our hearts, but also a great hope. We rejoice in knowing that she is with her Lord and Savior, and we look forward to the day we will see her again.

If Gwenda could leave us with one final message, it would be this: life is uncertain, but eternity is forever. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus Christ made the gift of eternal life available to all who place their trust in Him.
