Gloria Friesen Block

Gloria Friesen Block passed away on September 2, 2026, in Keller, Texas. She was born on July 25, 1948, in Cordell, Oklahoma, and lived a life shaped by faith, family, and a heartfelt devotion to children.

Gloria was a woman who knew early what she wanted her life to be. She always wanted to be a wife and mother, and she always wanted to teach children. Those callings remained at the center of her life and were reflected in the way she gave herself to others. A very strong woman of faith, she loved Jesus, Jim, and her family above all else. She wished to be remembered as someone who did her best in all things and did them as unto the Lord for His glory.

Her work in education was a meaningful expression of that purpose. Gloria earned her bachelor’s degree and went on to serve as a teacher and in education administration. Among her proudest accomplishments were directing child development centers and teaching kindergarten. She brought care, dedication, and conviction to her work, and the joy children found in the world delighted her in return. Cute things children said and did made her laugh, and that simple happiness stayed close to her heart.

One cherished memory recalls family, friends, and co-workers gathering for a luncheon when Jim was presented with his 50-year aviation award from the FAA. It was the kind of occasion that reflected the deep bonds Gloria shared with those around her and the pride she took in her husband and loved ones.

Gloria is survived by her beloved spouse, James Block; her son, Jeffrey Block; her brothers, Larry Friesen and Gregory Friesen; her grandchildren, Jordan Veneigh, Nathan Veneigh, Colton Block, Sean Block, Shantel Morris, Preston Block, as well as 9 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind the enduring love of the family circle they shared together, a legacy of faith and devotion that will continue through each of them.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Noelle French, and by her parents, Paul Friesen and Melba Friesen.

Gloria Friesen Block will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her love for her family, her devotion to children, and the grace with which she pursued the work set before her. Her life was one of purpose, warmth, and quiet strength, and her memory will remain a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
