Gilbert was preceded in passing by his son, Steven Cosby Garner; and his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Frances Garner; daughter, Deanna Garner Alexander; sons, Randal Cosby Garner and Mikel Ray Garner; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and numerous family and friends.
