George Steven (Steve) Williams of Lipan, Texas passed away on Tuesday July 1, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas. Though his passing came too soon, George’s generous spirit endured to the very end—he chose to be an organ and tissue donor, a final act of kindness that will help many others.

He was preceded in death by his Father James Williams, Mother Gloria Kavanaugh, Step-Father Ray Kavanaugh, Brother Bob Williams, and Sister Sheila Towse.

Born on November 30, 1952, in Kittery, Maine, George grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from Billerica Memorial High School. He served in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, receiving an honorable discharge in 1974.

He was a loving husband and father, very proud grandpa, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. George cherished his family and developed a deep interest in genealogy, always excited to share the family history he uncovered.

A lifelong musician, George had a deep passion for music and drumming. He played in bands across the country from high school times on, including during his Army service. George cherished and was particularly grateful for the shows he played that benefited charities. He loved live music, especially when it was from his friends or loved ones playing. This love inspired other musicians and his supportive nature led him to mentor fellow budding musicians.

George also loved traveling and learning about different cultures. He spent many of his retirement days cruising all around North and South America with his wife Mary, eagerly sending photos, videos, and thoughtful souvenirs to friends and family along the way.

He had a quick wit, a love for storytelling, and a knack for delivering the perfect wisecrack although he was often quiet and reserved- that is until the game was on. Through every win and loss, George remained a dedicated fan to his beloved teams, the Patriots, Red Sox, and Celtics.

George is survived by his wife Mary Williams, Step-Mother Lorraine Williams; Daughters Gillian Williams and Hillary (Bill) Kucera, Step-Son Clint (Randy) January, and their Mother Gladys Swaner; Grandchildren Dean and Amelia Kucera; and brothers James (Mona) Williams, Ted (Gerzia) Williams, Todd (Eusebia) Williams, Randy (Maja) Williams, and David Williams. He also leaves behind many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

George’s warmth, humor, and kindness will be missed deeply and remembered always.
