Gary left his earthly home on Saturday, August 29, 2026 after a courageous battle with lung cancer, supported every step of the way by his loving wife Carol. Gary and Carol were married for almost 60 years, and walked together through every phase of life for what seemed like a million more! If you knew Gary, you knew he would try to go out fighting until the last minute, and on his own terms. He did just that.
Although a dedicated employee to American Airlines for 42 years, and a great sailor on good ol’ Eagle Mountain Lake, Gary’s true love, besides Carol Elaine and his family and friends, was to be hunting and fishing, never missing a season until he was physically unable to. That was his happy place, particularly with Kyle and the “Joe’s”, and Jason when he could. He was quick witted, always had some crazy comeback, tough as nails on the outside, but had the most gentle heart on the inside, one that would do anything for anybody that needed help without even batting an eye.
The Hallows household, the” dog house”, has been the loving home to many dogs, too many to mention, they were “Carol’s dogs” to hear him tell it. We all know better. But the one and only dog he claimed as absolutely his dog was his Abbey Girl, waiting for him to resume their fun together, what a happy day that had to be!
For those of us he left behind, for now, we will cherish each and every zany and loving memory, and miss him every day until we are together again.
Gary was proceeded in death by his mom and dad, Gladys and Bill Eastridge, brother Ronald Stubbs, his mother and father-in-law Faye and Ed Pewitt, brother-in-laws Gary Pewitt and Rashid Karar, and nephew Troy Clayton.
Gary is survived by his wife Carol, sister Patricia Karar, brother Michael Hallows (Sally), Sister-in-law Cindy Baker, and nephews Jason Guerrero (Kelly), Coby Pewitt, Josh Karar (Mary), Jeff Stubbs, niece Courtney Parrish (Reid), and the “fab five” greats; Garrett, Hank, Chloe, Ben, and Millie. As well as his life- long friends, Joyce and Randy Lennard, and Judy and the late Robert Gilmore, and countless others. All had a very special and unique place in Gary’s heart.
In honor of Gary’s final wishes, a gathering of family and friends to celebrate his life will be held at a future date.
