Gary A. Altizer, age 69, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025. Born on October 12, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, Gary was the beloved son of the late Ralph and Evelyn (Sorensen) Altizer.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Gary served aboard the U.S.S. Constellation as a Machinist Mate. His service to his country was a defining part of his life, and his deep respect for history, especially military and British history, reflected his enduring commitment to learning and honoring the past.

Gary was a graduate of Foreman High School, Class of 1973, and later attended Triton Community College. He also attended Nash Grammar School during his early years. He was known for his passion for carpentry and woodworking, which he pursued with precision and creativity. Gary was an avid scuba diver, a talented cook, and a dedicated history buff with a deep admiration for British culture.

Above all, Gary was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Cynthia (Mosior) Altizer; his sons, Jonathan (Andrea) Altizer and Christopher (Cassandra) Altizer; and his cherished grandchildren: Brianna, Colin, Kendall, and Chloe. He is also survived by his sister Ruth (Altizer) Jenlinek; his brother David (Jean) Altizer; and twelve loving nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Evelyn Altizer; his brother-in-law, Allan Jenlinek; and his niece, Jacqueline (Topinka) Tyndal.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, July 15th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a blessing at 7:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Vietnam Veterans of America or Disabled American Veterans, causes that were close to Gary’s heart.

Gary will be remembered for his warm heart, his unwavering love for his family and country, and his deep curiosity about the world. He will be greatly missed.
