Forrest Lane Barfield August 11, 1955 – September 26, 2026 Forrest Lane Barfield, a man who lived life with a big heart, an even bigger personality, and plenty of laughter, passed away on September 26, 2026. Forrest was truly one of a kind. Full of life, love, and laughter, he had one of the biggest hearts in Texas and a way of making everyone around him feel like an old friend. With his quick wit, outgoing personality, and gift for telling a good story, Forrest could make just about anyone laugh. He never met a stranger—no matter where he went, he could strike up a conversation, make a friend, and leave behind a story worth telling. Forrest loved the outdoors and was happiest hunting, trapping, fishing, playing dominoes (specifically 42) and spending time with the people he loved. He was also known as one of the best rattlesnake catchers in Texas—a reputation that became even more fitting after surviving a rattlesnake bite himself. Rather than letting that experience keep him away, it simply became another chapter in the collection of stories that made Forrest, Forrest. At the center of his life was his family. Forrest and his wife, Cindy, shared a love and friendship that spanned nearly five decades. They were best friends for 49 years, became partners in life 42 years ago, and shared 30 years of marriage. Their life together was built on friendship, love, laughter, family, and countless memories. Forrest was a loving father figure and friend to Shantell, Tiffany, and Jonathan, and he took great pride in being Pawpaw to his grandchildren. His family knew him not only for his larger-than-life personality, but also for the love, loyalty, humor, and heart he brought into their lives. Forrest is survived by his beloved wife, Cindy Barfield; his brother, Ron Barfield, and his wife, Brenda; his sister, Jeannie Horak, and her husband, Kylie; his children, Shantell Ross, Tiffany Martinez, and Jonathan Garrett; his grandchildren, Haley, Kade, Austin, Kayla, and Axton; his great grandson Kooper, nieces and nephews, including Katie Barfield, Johnny Barfield, and Layna Oliver; as well as many cousins, extended family members, and friends who were fortunate enough to know and love him. Forrest leaves behind more than a lifetime of memories. He leaves behind laughter that will continue through the stories his family tells, adventures that will never be forgotten, and a love for family that will continue through generations. Those who knew Forrest will remember a man who lived fully, loved deeply, laughed often, and never needed an introduction to turn a stranger into a friend. There will never be another Forrest Barfield, and anyone lucky enough to have known him has a story to prove it.
