Faye Stowe

February 12, 1936 — July 9, 2025

Fort Worth

Faye Annette (Currie) Stowe departed this life on July 9, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

Faye was born on February 12, 1936, in San Antonio, Texas, to parents Annie Kathryn McElvy and her husband Owen John Currie. Faye attended and graduated high school in San Antonio, Texas.

On August 1, 1953, Faye married James Stewart Stowe and began her life as a wife. After marrying, Faye became a homemaker and mom to four children.

While raising her children, Faye began attending school while also continuing to work full-time. She eventually earned a Bachelor of Business Administration majoring in accounting and management. This degree helped her secure an entry-level position with the Internal Revenue Service. Through her diligent efforts, Faye was promoted to Internal Revenue Service Agent. She enjoyed her career with the Internal Revenue Service until she retired in 1996.

Post retirement, Faye began pursuing her interest in her ancestry and after extensive research and 15 years of gathering information, she was able to author a book titled “McElvy Beginnings and Connections, Some Descendants of Elder William McElvy of Decatur County, Georgia.” The book, containing 758 pages of familial connections, also contains family stories that have been passed down through generations. In Faye’s own words taken from the Foreword and Acknowledgements, she writes, “this book has been a many years project. It began as a photo album/scrapbook for each of my grandchildren, but soon the many scrapbooks became too burdensome, and the project was abandoned in favor of this book.”

Also, after her retirement, Faye spent a lot of time travelling with her husband both for business and pleasure. Faye and Jim visited all the states in the union, and would frequently re-visit their favorites (Alaska, Montana, Wyoming, and Maine) in one of several RV’s they owned throughout their road trip days. In addition to road travel, Faye enjoyed going on cruises and was a 3-star mariner. Faye also toured many countries. She was able to explore Panama, the Bahamas, Mexico, Aruba, Antigua, England, Switzerland, Puerto Rico, Austria, and Northern Ireland. But, by far, her favorite countries to visit were Scotland, which she re-visited three times, and Ireland, which she visited six times.

Faye’s other interests included boating, spending time with her family, bird watching, and feeding the animals that frequented her yard of her dream home on Canyon Lake. She and Jim enjoyed their time there for 33 years before moving to Fort Worth, Texas, to be closer to their children.

Faye was the devoted mother of her four children (and their spouses); James, Jr. “Buz” (Nurhayat) Stowe, Owen (Nan Setser) Stowe, David (Lisa) Stowe, Susan (Casey) Pattison. She is remembered with love by her grandchildren (and their spouses); Amanda Stowe, Bryan (Tracy) Stowe, Kristen (Bradley) Vick, Jennifer (Eric) Melin, Michael Stowe, Alexander Yoakum, and Victoria Pattison. She leaves behind her great grandchildren, Hailey, Ashlyn, Addison Vick, Nicholas, Mason, Cody, and Colt Stowe.

Faye is predeceased by her brother Owen John Currie, Jr., her father, Owen John Currie, mother Annie Kathryn Currie, brother Richard Wayne Currie, grandson Stephen Stowe, and husband James Stewart Stowe.
